Wheel Shopping
All the wheels in the bike shop for road bikes looked the same to me. How do i know what kind of wheel to buy?
I want to buy a pair that would help when i ride on those big climbs. I know that i need wheels that are light but like i said, they look the same to me (prices aren't the same though). So, what should i be looking for?
Where I live, there are two sizes of wheelsets for road bikes. The 650 are lighter than the 700
There are three main tire mounting methods: tubular (lightest), clincher, tubeless (likely heaviest)
Material-wise, there are two main types: carbon (lighter) and aluminium
with some combining both materials
Design-wise, there are basic (usually lightest), semi-aero (mostly heavier than basic, aero (mostly heavier than semi-aero), disc (most of them heaviest)
If your bike is one for 650, you get the 650 tubular made of carbon with the basic rim profile. This would be the lightest for hill-climbing
