Stair Lift can anyone tell me of any regulations reguarding fitting a stair lift on communal stairs?
the woman in the middle flat has fitted a stair lift on the stairs which lead to my flat also at the top of the building , are there any safety regulations or rules about this
This reminds me of the time our old home owners association tryed to stop a man in a wheel chair from putting a ramp outside his home so he could get in and out safely and on his own. Needless to say, they got sued and we all had to pay.
My point is, if the person is handicapped, they still have the right to live there. This device may deter you from wanting to live there, but there are laws protecting the handicapped. I'm sure a licensed contractor had to come out to install it and it does meet code. These types of devices are seldom home made and have to meet strict safety standards
