Scooter Lift HOW to continue gliding?
I've ice skated for about 4 hours total, thats it. But i cannot figure out how to keep gliding.
I "run" and let myself glide, and in like 3 seconds I'll stop gliding and if I TRY to continue gliding, you know, lift my foot and pretend im riding a scooter, I'll get caught up, halt and almost trip over(which i dont since i balance myself)
also
should we ice skate on the outer or inner edges of the blade? im almost always on the inside, unwillingly.
If you are doing that scooter-like push while going straight, then you should be balanced on the flat of your blade - both edges. The foot that you are pushing with should be pushing off the inside edge. If you are turning, then you should be on whichever edge is closer to the circle (if you are balanced on your right skate and turning left, you should be on your inside edge, and if you're turning right on your right skate, you should be on your outside edge).
Remember to -bend your knees -keep your back straight -keep your arms out to the side for balance -keep your chin and eyes up and looking in front of you -when placing your pushing foot back to glide, make sure your blades are parallel with each other
Chances are you're not doing one (or more) of the above if you're tripping over your skates.
Good luck and have fun!
