Brace Small Is it okay to remove a small section of the top center brace?
Hi! My 56 gallon tank is kind of oddly shaped, making my 70-110 AquaClear filter have to sit on the side instead of the back. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2470/4069… It's not a great pic, but you get an idea of the shape. It's about 30 inches long, something like 30 inches tall and 24 inches deep. That's a guesstimate, as I don't have a tape measure : ( The brace prevents the filter from sitting on the back as it makes the space about 1/3 of an inch too short. So, could I remove a small, about 1 inch by 1/4 of an inch from the center brace edge, or will this completely trash the structural integrity? I want to move the filter to the back so that I can hook up better lights. But with it on the side, there's no space to set the lights, as they attach to the side of the tank, instead of resting on the tank top. Thanks!
As long as you are removing about 20% or less of what is there. I have done this myself.
