Aspirator Suction 5 Month Old With Mucus Only at Night Time....WHY??
My 5 month old son woke up the other night and was in a panic. (as were his Daddy and I!) My husband picked him up out of the crib and there was clear runny mucus running out of his nose and it was filling his mouth and throat causing him not to be able to breath. I took my aspirator and suctioned out what I could, he was still gagging and crying some. I called his DR. and he said to go to the ER. So 12:45 at night we were on our way. By the time we got there, the mucus was pretty much all gone. (When he went to bed that night he had no congestion). They did tests and he didn't have the flu or pnemonia. They told me to sleep him upright in a car seat (fun, fun) He only seems to get that now at night. During the day he is clear and has no mucus at all. he''s been napping in his car seat now. I don't know what is going on. Could it be the fact that he's teething? Why only at night? They gave me no explantion at the hospital. Can someone please give me some insight???
This is a stab in the dark but I wonder if he has an allergy to something in his bedding. Or maybe even the smell of the fabric softener is triggering a reaction. I hope he feels better and good luck.
