Acl Knee ACL knee brace should I wear one to prevent it?
I am a freshman 14 year old girl playing highschool basketball on the JV team and my parents and I were wondering if I should wear a knee brace to prevent a ACL injury even though ive never had one... if so what kind?
please if you can add a website for me to look at! =] thanks
You can if you want, but what really helps to prevent ACL injuries is to strengthen the knee itself, not just wear a brace. It's hard to explain exercises over the internet. What you should do is find an athletic trainer, ask your coach, or someone with the right experience to help show you how to do these exercises. Maybe the PE teachers, school nurse if you have one, or even your coach can show you.
Here's a site that can explain it a bit more.

It's good that you're taking concern for your health and safety before anything happens! Good luck with the rest of your season!
